We aim to spread his knowledge of Kalari through our institute Payattukalari established in 2013.
Kalaripayattu is the traditional martial art form of Kerala and is recognized as the oldest and the most scientific of all martial arts in the world.The history of Kalaripayattu runs back to the time when India was not a united country and there were frequent fighting between each small provinces in India. Kalaripayattu is the exclusive martial arts legacy of Kerala. There were Kalari warriors who became the army for each kingdom. Later on after the colonization by British, they restricted the practices of Kalaripayattu and there was a termination of this great art form.
In the present time under the guidance and strong vision of a legend Sri.C V Narayanan Nair Gurukkal, Kalaripayattu got reformation in the form of a stage art and it helped in popularizing Kalaripayattu. Sri. Pathriyil Gopalan Gurukkal was one of the disciples of Sri.C V Narayanan Gurukkal and teacher to Sri.Chandhappan Gurukkal who was the first teacher to our grand father Sri.E P Vasudevan Gurukkal. More over great grand father Sri.Ayyappa Thandar who lived in the middle of eighteen century taught first lessons of kalaripayattu and Kalari treatment to E P Vasudeva Gurukkal.
